What is Radiology?
Radiology or diagnostic imaging encompasses a series of tests in which multiple images of parts of the body are taken and studied. It is used for either diagnostic or interventional purposes. It makes use of radiant energy for diagnosis and even treatment of certain diseases. A radiologist’s job is to perform imaging and find out a relevant image which can evaluate the patient’s condition and support his diagnosis. Radiologists are doctors who have specialized training in the field of medical imaging. They are highly trained in the interpretation of these medical imaging. Usually, patients are referred to the radiologists when the diagnosis cannot be done by traditional methods. After a series of imaging tests, radiologists provide reports of their interpretations of the imaging to the referring doctors.
